Rockport Quilt Show from Quarter-Inch Capers

We went Friday, but I’ve been busy with other things and didn’t manage to sit down and write a post. First of all, it was cold! It took a little over an hour to get there plus another few minutes to find the Presbyterian church. They had antique quilts on display in the sanctuary.

I wasn’t really in the mood to take pictures, but I did enjoy looking at the quilts. The show quilts were in another part of the church. I don’t know what it was—maybe a fellowship hall? It just sort of wound ...

Quilt Show and Etsy Updates from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

Since the quilt show, I've been busy decompressing after the show then ramping it back up to get ready for my last Sew'n Wild Oaks Retreat for the year.  I wanted to share my friend's Calico Cottages quilt which she entered in the show.

Diane’s quilt is absolutely spectacular! Every stitch reflects her incredible attention to detail and precision. I especially loved her use of low-volume sashing; it frames each block beautifully and really lets the design shine. It’s also a brilliant way to put those scrap bins to good use… and don ...

If Quilts Could Talk from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

My booth is set and ready for quilters at the Independence Hall Quilt Show at the Fairgrounds in Angels Camp, CA.

The majority of the quilts and projects in my booth are made with Marcus Fabrics.  I'm delighted to use the phrase Make it with Marcus when talking about my booth.  This image shows the new Country Charmer pattern and Cozy Country Christmas made with Cozy Christmas fabric designed by Katie Solberg.

I have bolts and bundles of Cozy Christmas.  I love the old basinet filled with Christmas joy instead of a bundle of joy.  You can ...

Independence Hall Quilt Show from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to the incredible help of dear friends, my booth at the Independence Hall Quilt Show in Angels Camp is nearly all set up!

Yesterday, we rolled in with three SUVs packed to the brim—quilts, bolts of fabric, patterns, and kits tucked into every nook and cranny. We’ll bring one more load down today to finish the setup. The show kicks off Friday and runs through Sunday, and I’d love to see many of you there!

For me, the true joy of a quilt show is the people—the chance to visit with so many ...

Sunday Stash August 24, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

It was a crazy busy week.

Last Sunday I went to Quilt National in Athens, Ohio with friends. It’s always an interesting exhibit. The contributors push the boundaries of what constitutes a quilt, and I always see something I’ve never seen before.

Thursday I went with a different friend to the AQS show in Grand Rapids, Michigan. So many quilts, so much creativity. The level of workmanship was impressive. I spent so much time looking at quilts that I skipped most vendors. I was looking for a few specific things that I didn’t find and bought nothing ...

FoQ 2025 from The Quilt Quine

I can’t believe that I am already back from FoQ! The journey from Devon is only around 4 hours including stops, rather than a 2-day marathon to NE Scotland. One minute we were setting up the full range of Bernina longarms and a few short days later we were packing everything up again.

I felt that this year the show was buzzing again with more international visitors, great quilts and enthusiastic traders. It seemed as almost as busy as it was pre-Covid. With 2 large halls in use, there was plenty of space and places to stop and reflect ...

Buttoned Up from The Quilt Quine

Another busy week has flown by! At one point I had 2 customer quilts on the go using the Bernina Q-Matic automated system. There was a very big quilt that I had to finish on time so its maker could take it home after she finished her sewing machine mastery course.

This week’s find was a small red swivel chair that was put out on the street. It is in good condition except when you lift it up and 2 of the wheels fall off. I expect some duck tape will fix that. I hope to take it to ...

Quilt Shop: Patchwork Moose; Talkeetna, Alaska from ... Cat Patches

Good afternoon, my friends. We just got back from our grocery shopping trip. (Limited quantities and selection here in this part of Alaska.) So now seems as good a time as any to tell you about the quilt shop. Look at this cute little shop. It was our first stop on our Talkeetna self-guided walking tour. That should come as no surprise to you. By the way, those signs in front say that parking is for customers only. Violators will be sprayed with fusible and doused in glitter. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Stepping inside the front door ...

Color Study from Quarter-Inch Capers

I have a few more pictures from the Cuero Quilt Show that I want to share. One of the things that interests me most about quilting is how different colors or contrasts can make the same quilt patterns look so different. Apparently, their guild did a mystery quilt last year, and several were exhibited at the show. The pattern is a three-color quilt.

It makes a big difference whether a dark or light is used for the background. Very interesting when you see them all together.

The reception at church Saturday turned out very nice. The color for ordination is ...

Inspiration! from Quarter-Inch Capers

Betty and I drove to Cuero yesterday to attend their quilt show. It was nice, and it looked like the attendance was pretty good. It wasn’t a very large show, but they have a pretty small guild. Well, it’s a small town, after all. I took a few pictures, not everything, but I took pictures of the ones that inspired me.

This was one of my favorites. Very pretty.

The butterflies were hand quilted. I took a closeup of the quilting.

Here’s a pretty bargello:

And some more pretty ones,

This was an old one made from ...

Port Lavaca Quilt Show from Quarter-Inch Capers

Here are some more pictures from the quilt show. This is not all inclusive, just the ones that inspired me.

This quilt was the result of a workshop we did at the Victoria quilt guild. I still need to finish mine. ☹️

They had several done with the buzzsaw pattern. I’m guessing they must have done them in a workshop at their guild. Of course, I don’t really know.

This was a beautiful one done by William Reue in his new fabric line. He designs for Free Spirit fabrics, and is originally from Port Lavaca. I graduated with his ...

Weekend Happenings from Quarter-Inch Capers

I’m still not feeling like doing much. I try to keep up with laundry and housework the best I can, but I might be losing the battle. I did some reorganization at my shop—Betty is helping me with that—but it is going to take some time to get it all done. Right now, I feel like we are moving stuff from one pile to another. I have found some long-forgotten projects that need to be finished, but I can’t seem to find the energy to work on them. I found this kit that I thought I ...

MIA in Malvern from The Quilt Quine

For anyone wondering where I have been… I was working this weekend at Malvern Quilt show – will post properly when I get time! Nessie had a lovely holiday with friends. Did not get slow worm house but will take the wee cottage in Tavi;) update to follow xx

I now know lots about the Accuquilt cutting system and think it is great. I bought some cotton duck fabric for my new kitchen – woodcut style whales and sardines. I am not exactly sure what to do with it but have not bought any fabric for ages and just fancied it!

Here ...

Victoria Quilt Show 2024 Part 3 from Quarter-Inch Capers

I think I can wrap this up today. I had to take my car to Corpus Christi for service, and it gave me a good opportunity to write this post since there isn’t much else to do there. I already looked at all the new cars, including the ones I can’t afford. LOL.

It’s a big temptation until I look at the sticker prices and decide I can be satisfied with what I have. Maybe.

These should be the last of the quilt show pictures.

I wanted to show these next ones together since they came from ...

Victoria Quilt Show 2024 Part 2 from Quarter-Inch Capers

I hope everyone will enjoy seeing some more quilt pictures. I like to get them all (or almost all) posted on my blog as it gives me a permanent record of what I saw. It serves as kind of an online diary where I can keep quilting things documented.

Here are some more of the entries:

This quilt was from a shop hop a couple of years ago. I made a similar quilt top, but, wow, the border Nancy chose really puts hers over the top. The border fabric is still available, but I don’t want to duplicate someone ...

Victoria Quilt Show 2024 from Quarter-Inch Capers

I have quite a few pictures to share. It make take more than one post to get them all posted. I am trying remember which were the winners, and I think I have mostly forgotten.

This one was first place in bed quilts, and this one was second:

The medallion was actually my favorite, but that’s no surprise as I always like the medallion settings. I tried to crop these photos, but I see now that I may not have saved the cropped photos.

Here are some more of the quilts:

I will have some more tomorrow. Have a ...

Weekend Update from Quarter-Inch Capers

Hello blog friends. I got back from vacation late Tuesday night, and the days since then were spent doing laundry and prepping for the quilt show. My vacation was a four-day trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with two girlfriends and my mom.

It was just long enough to have a good time, but not get too tired. Anyway, my favorite place to be is home.

The quilt show ended yesterday. It was a lot of work, but I think it went well. The overall attendance was down this year, although I’m told it’s always down when it ...
